A Change in Plans, Update on Scarlet

Well this month’s theme was supposed to be camping, and with social media, that is what it has been. However in my own life I have had NO time for camping. We were supposed to go to Colorado for a camping vacation, but when my horse Scarlet got injured (see blog post from May 24th 2016) and we weren’t ready for her expected foal, we postponed our trip. Summer trips are hard for me anyway because we get so busy here in Minocqua, but now we are just overloaded, and… there is more.

Scarlet’s News

Well for this week’s blog I thought I would just give you an update on Scarlet and she has some big news. Scarlet has had her foal! The foal came at least 3 weeks early and was a big surprise to us. I went down to feed the horses and the boys came trotting out of the woods, but there was no Scarlet. Then, she came slowly walking down a little hill thick with vegetation. The morning sun was throwing scattered light through the trees and down on the forest understory. As I watched, a little face immerged poking along behind Scarlet. I could hardly believe it. I was overcome by joy at the sight of a beautiful buckskin filly.

Adapt Your Map

So even though Scarlet is still healing her ripped open side from the May fencing accident, she was able to produce a gorgeous little baby. So I am really glad that I am not in Colorado right now, and will just have to bring you those stories later. I guess as much as you plan and map out your course, you never know what is going to happen. You always have to adapt and be flexible. Here is to a busy summer!
